Dress Watches

Authorized Watch Retailer in Canada

Overview

A dress watch is slim, simple and quiet: a clean dial, often just hours, minutes and a date, a thin case that slips under a shirt cuff, and usually a leather strap or a fine bracelet. We carry more than 1,100 of them for men and women, from Longines' DolceVita, La Grande Classique and Master Collection, Tissot's Le Locle and Classic Dream and Frederique Constant's Classics to OMEGA's De Ville and Constellation, IWC's Portofino and Rado's Florence, from about $380 to over $280,000 CAD.

What makes a dress watch?

Restraint. A dress watch keeps to the essentials: a slim case, usually 34 to 40 mm, a white, silver, black or blue dial with fine hands and markers, and few or no complications beyond a date, small seconds or a moon phase. Polished steel or gold and a leather strap are classic; a fine bracelet suits it too. It should slip under a shirt cuff without catching.

Which dress watch should I choose?

Under $1,000, Tissot's Le Locle, Classic Dream and Carson are refined everyday choices, and Frederique Constant's Classics start at about $1,400. Longines is the heart of the range: La Grande Classique is one of the slimmest, and the DolceVita is a rectangular classic, mostly under $4,000. OMEGA's De Ville and Constellation, IWC's Portofino and Rado's Florence complete it, up to gold pieces.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dress watch cost in Canada?

Our dress watches start at about $380 CAD; more than half are under $5,000, and OMEGA, IWC and gold pieces run higher. Every price is in Canadian dollars.

What size should a dress watch be?

For most men 36 to 40 mm, and for most women 25 to 34 mm, so the watch sits flat and slips under a cuff. Use the case size filter to narrow them down.

Can I wear a dress watch every day?

Yes. Many dress watches are water resistant to 30 or 50 metres, fine for daily wear; just keep them out of the pool. Each product page lists the rating.

Can I see these watches in person?

Many are on display in our boutiques in Quebec and Ontario, and others are ordered in from the brand. Each product page says whether a piece is in stock or available to order.
