GMT Watches

Authorized Watch Retailer in Canada

Overview

A GMT watch tells the time in two places at once: an extra 24-hour hand, read against a 24-hour bezel or scale, keeps home time while the main hands show local time. We carry about 130 GMT, dual time and world time watches, led by Longines' HydroConquest GMT, Spirit Zulu Time and Master Collection, with OMEGA, Breitling, Montblanc, Hamilton, MIDO and TAG Heuer, from about $650 to over $70,000 CAD.

GMT, dual time or world time?

A GMT watch adds a 24-hour hand, so you can tell day from night in the second time zone; with a rotating 24-hour bezel, it can even track a third. On many, the local hour hand jumps in one-hour steps without stopping the watch, so you can change time zones in flight. A dual time watch shows the second time on a sub-dial, and a world time watch shows all 24 time zones at once.

Which GMT watch should I choose?

Longines has the widest choice: the HydroConquest GMT for the water, the Spirit Zulu Time for pilots and the Master Collection for the office, mostly from about $3,750 to $5,500. Hamilton's Khaki Aviation and Khaki Navy GMTs, MIDO's Ocean Star GMT and TAG Heuer's Aquaracer GMT and Carrera Twin-Time are fine travellers too. Breitling's Avenger and Chronomat GMT, Montblanc's 1858 GMT and Geosphere and OMEGA's Aqua Terra Worldtimer complete the range.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a GMT watch cost in Canada?

Our GMT watches start at about $650 CAD; more than half are under $5,000, and OMEGA, Breitling and Montblanc pieces run higher. Every price is in Canadian dollars.

What does GMT stand for?

Greenwich Mean Time, the reference time at the Greenwich meridian in London, from which the world's time zones were set. On a watch, GMT simply means a second time zone on a 24-hour hand.

Is a GMT watch useful if I don't travel?

Yes, if you work with colleagues or family in another time zone. The 24-hour hand also tells day from night at a glance.

Can I see these watches in person?

Many are on display in our boutiques in Quebec and Ontario, and others are ordered in from the brand. Each product page says whether a piece is in stock or available to order.
