Authorized Watch Retailer in Canada

Overview

Automatic watches wind themselves with the motion of your wrist: no battery, and a movement that can run for generations with regular service. We carry more than 2,000 of them from OMEGA, Longines, IWC, Breitling, Oris, Tissot, Hamilton, Rado, Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith, from about $600 to rare pieces above $300,000 CAD, with about half under $5,000. Every price is in Canadian dollars, and many are on display in our boutiques in Quebec and Ontario.

Automatic, manual or quartz?

An automatic, or self-winding, movement has a rotor that turns as you move and winds the mainspring; most hold between 38 and 80 hours of power, so a watch worn every day never needs winding. A manual-wind movement is wound by the crown and is often slimmer. A quartz movement runs on a battery and is the most accurate and the easiest to own. Automatic movements are the heart of Swiss watchmaking, and the watches most collectors keep for life.

Which automatic watch should I choose?

For an everyday automatic under $2,000, Tissot's Powermatic 80 watches (PRX, Gentleman, Le Locle), Hamilton's Khaki Field and MIDO offer an 80-hour power reserve. Between $2,000 and $6,000, Longines (HydroConquest, Spirit, Master Collection), Oris (Aquis) and Rado (Captain Cook) are the core of the range. Above that come OMEGA's Seamaster, Speedmaster and Constellation with Master Chronometer movements, IWC's Pilot's Watches and Portugieser, Breitling, Zenith and Hublot.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an automatic watch cost in Canada?

Our automatic watches start at about $600 CAD and about half are under $5,000; Breitling, OMEGA, IWC, Hublot and Zenith pieces run from about $6,000 to well above $50,000. Every price is in Canadian dollars.

Does an automatic watch need a battery?

No. It winds itself as you wear it. If it stops after a few days off the wrist, give the crown a few turns or simply wear it, and set the time.

How often should an automatic watch be serviced?

Most brands recommend a service every five to ten years, depending on the movement and how the watch is worn. Any of our boutiques can take your watch in for servicing.

Can I see these watches in person?

Many are on display in our boutiques in Quebec and Ontario, and others are ordered in from the brand. Each product page says whether a piece is in stock or available to order.
