Roberto Coin founded his house in 1996 and built it in Vicenza, the centre of Italian goldsmithing, on the idea that a jewellery brand could rest on craft and a personal signature rather than a logo. That signature is a single ruby set on the inside of most pieces, against the wearer's skin. He chose the ruby because many cultures have linked the stone to protection, vitality and love. Roberto Coin jewellery is handcrafted in Vicenza in 18K gold, in yellow, white, rose and two-tone finishes, and the lines pair openwork and woven goldwork with diamonds.
