Titanium is about 40% lighter than steel, does not corrode and is gentle on the skin, which makes it a favourite for sports and everyday watches. We carry about 140 titanium watches, from Tissot's T-Touch and Hamilton's Khaki Field to Hublot's Classic Fusion and Big Bang, IWC's Pilot's Watches, OMEGA's Seamaster, TAG Heuer's Monaco and Oris's ProPilot X, from about $750 to over $290,000 CAD.
Steel is heavier and takes a high polish; titanium is lighter, warmer to the touch and very resistant to corrosion, so a large watch stays comfortable on the wrist all day. Its grey tone is slightly darker than steel, and it is usually brushed or sandblasted. Titanium is also a good choice for anyone sensitive to the nickel found in some steels.
Grade 2 or Grade 5?
Grade 2 titanium is commercially pure and very light. Grade 5 is an alloy with aluminium and vanadium that is harder, holds sharper edges and can be polished, which is why brands use it for cases and bracelets that need a finer finish. Each product page names the case material when the brand specifies it.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a titanium watch cost in Canada?+
Our titanium watches start at about $750 CAD with Tissot's Gentleman and PRX in titanium, about a quarter are under $5,000, and Hublot, IWC and OMEGA pieces run higher. Every price is in Canadian dollars.
Is titanium hypoallergenic?+
Titanium is very rarely a cause of skin reactions and contains no nickel, so it suits most people with a nickel sensitivity.
Does titanium scratch?+
Pure titanium is softer on the surface than steel, but brushed and sandblasted finishes hide wear well, and Grade 5 titanium is harder. Our boutiques can refresh the finish when the watch is serviced.
Can I see these watches in person?+
Some are on display in our boutiques in Quebec and Ontario, and others are ordered in from the brand. Each product page says whether a piece is in stock or available to order.
