What is the difference between the Grand Seiko collections?+
Heritage revives the designs of the earliest Grand Seikos, such as the 44GS and 62GS of 1967, and is our largest collection. Elegance is the dressy choice for special occasions. Sport is built for legibility and durability, with GMT models water resistant to 20 bar (200 m). Evolution 9 is Grand Seiko's newest design language, with the Ushio 300 Diver at 30 bar (300 m). At La Maison Monaco, Heritage starts at $3,300 and Evolution 9 at $11,700.
What is Spring Drive, and what are the quartz and mechanical options?+
Spring Drive is powered by a mainspring like a mechanical watch, but regulated by a quartz oscillator and an integrated circuit, so the seconds hand glides silently instead of ticking; the Spring Drive models we carry offer about 72 hours of power reserve. The 9S mechanical movement, including the Hi-Beat 36000 that beats ten times a second, is the tradition of the first Grand Seiko. The 9F quartz, born in 1993, is Grand Seiko's own high-precision quartz; the 9F86 in our quartz GMTs is accurate to ±10 seconds a year.
Why choose a Grand Seiko?+
Grand Seiko was created in 1960 to be the ideal watch, and it makes its own movements and dials in Japan. Zaratsu polishing gives its cases sharp edges and distortion-free surfaces, and many of our models are in High-Intensity Titanium, about 30% lighter than stainless steel with superior scratch and corrosion resistance. Whether you choose Spring Drive, mechanical or quartz, you get a watch designed around precision, legibility and beauty.

The Maison
Grand Seiko was born in 1960 from one determination: to make the ideal watch, with standards of precision, durability, legibility and beauty that lead the world. Its movements come in three families, made at two dedicated Japanese studios: the 9S mechanical, introduced in 1998 at the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in Iwate; the 9R Spring Drive, over 20 years in development before its 2004 debut, hand-assembled at the Shinshu Watch Studio in Nagano; and the 9F quartz, born in 1993 and also made at the Shinshu Watch Studio. Its cases carry the sharp, distortion-free surfaces of Zaratsu polishing, and its dials, made in-house, capture the seasons and landscapes of Japan. The Grand Seiko watches at La Maison Monaco run from $3,300 to $16,300.
