The Portofino is the slimmer, quieter dress watch, from $7,600, in sizes that include 34 and 37 mm. The Portugieser is larger and more assertive, with Arabic numerals and a railway-track minute ring, from $10,600, and comes as a 40 or 42 mm automatic or with a chronograph or perpetual calendar. Choose the Portofino for discretion, the Portugieser for presence.
Yes. The Pilot's Watch is built to be read at a glance, and most references list 100 m water resistance. The Pilot's Watch starts at $7,300, the 40 mm Mark XX at $7,900 suits an average wrist, while the Big Pilot's Watch is larger. Check the case size and the reference page before you decide.
The Ingenieur is IWC's integrated-bracelet sports watch. Gerald Genta first designed it in 1976, and IWC relaunched it in 2023. We carry 18 Ingenieur references from $15,400 to $78,700, in sizes including 35, 40 and 42 mm, most rated to 100 m. It suits owners who want a single steel watch to wear daily.
Our dedicated IWC boutique is at Royalmount in Montreal, where a specialist can show you current references and help with sizing. Any IWC can also be ordered online and delivered across Canada. Most references are available to order from IWC rather than held on the shelf, so we confirm availability before your visit.
Yes. La Maison Monaco is an authorized IWC Schaffhausen dealer in Canada, so each watch comes from IWC with its manufacturer warranty and the reference you ordered. For service questions, bring the watch to one of our 15 boutiques and a specialist will advise on next steps.
The Maison
IWC was founded in 1868 in Schaffhausen, on the Rhine, by Florian Ariosto Jones, an American watchmaker from Boston who used the river's hydropower to run his factory. The Portugieser dates to 1939, when Portuguese merchants asked for a wristwatch with the accuracy of a marine chronometer. The Pilot's Watch descends from the 1936 Special Pilot's Watch and the 1940 Big Pilot, built for cockpit legibility and protection against magnetic fields. The Ingenieur, first designed by Gerald Genta in 1976, returned in 2023. IWC also makes its own movements, including the 52000-series calibres with Pellaton winding, which give a seven-day power reserve in some versions.
