La Maison Monaco is an authorized Canadian retailer of FOPE, the Italian fine jewellery house, with CAD pricing on every piece. FOPE makes flexible 18-carat gold jewellery, entirely made in Italy, signed by a chain that bends and stretches like fabric. That comes from two house inventions: the Novecento woven mesh and Flex'it, patented 18k gold springs hidden in the links so a bracelet slips on with no clasp. The Maison

FOPE was founded in 1929 by goldsmith Umberto Cazzola in Vicenza, Italy, the city that has been the heart of Italian goldsmithing for centuries. For its first decades FOPE supplied gold chain to other houses, and that engineering of the chain itself became the brand's identity. In the early 1980s FOPE invented the Novecento mesh, a smooth, supple gold weave that drapes rather than rattles, and built its modern collections around it. The breakthrough buyers know today is Flex'it, a patented mechanism of miniature 18-carat gold springs set between the links, which lets a rigid-looking gold bracelet flex open and snap back to the wrist without any hook or clasp. Everything is still made in Italy in 18-carat gold, designed and produced in-house, which is why FOPE sits in the fine-jewellery tier rather than the fashion-jewellery one. The brand is now run by the Cazzola family across generations, and its appeal is practical as much as decorative: this is Italian gold engineered to be worn every day, comfortable enough to stack, and built to last.
