613-416-1516Yes. Rado's high-tech ceramic is far harder than stainless steel, so it resists the everyday scratches that dull a metal case. It is also hypoallergenic and lighter than steel. It is not unbreakable: a hard knock against a hard surface can chip or crack it. Rado makes it by sintering ceramic powder under heat and pressure, and it keeps a polished or matte finish.
Rado watches at La Maison Monaco cost from $1,400 to $8,900 CAD. Quartz models start at $1,400 and automatics at $1,800. The DiaStar Original starts at $1,400, the Centrix at $2,400 and the Captain Cook at $3,300. Each product page shows the current price in Canadian dollars, and eligible models can be financed through Flexiti.
Yes. The Captain Cook is an automatic dive watch with a rotating bezel, and most references are rated to 300 m of water resistance. Rado revived it from a 1962 design, in steel, bronze or high-tech ceramic. Water resistance varies by reference, so check the exact rating on the product page for the model you are considering.
It depends on how you will wear it. The Captain Cook is the diver, the DiaStar Original is the heritage classic, the Centrix is the versatile everyday watch, the Coupole is the dress watch, and the True and HyperChrome lines are the most ceramic-forward options. Case sizes run from under 34 mm to over 44 mm, so trying one on in a boutique helps.
Yes. La Maison Monaco is an authorized Rado dealer in Canada with 15 boutiques in Quebec and Ontario. Every Rado is sourced from the brand, matches its official reference and carries the full Rado manufacturer warranty. Stock status is shown on each page: in stock, or available to order, meaning we order it in from Rado for you.
Both. About two thirds of the Rado watches we carry are automatic, most of the rest are quartz, and one is hand-wound. An automatic suits you if you like a mechanical movement, while a quartz Rado costs less and needs less upkeep. Automatics start at $1,800 and quartz at $1,400. The movement type is listed on every product page.
The Maison
Rado was founded in 1917 in Lengnau, Switzerland, as the movement maker Schlup & Co., and took the Rado name in the 1950s as it grew into a full watch brand. Its defining idea has always been materials. In 1962 it launched the DiaStar 1, billed as the first scratch-resistant watch, with a hard-metal case and a sapphire crystal that kept their finish where ordinary steel would mark. Rado went on to pioneer high-tech ceramic in watchmaking, a material far harder than steel, hypoallergenic, light and able to hold a polished or matte finish for years. Rado is part of the Swatch Group and builds its Swiss automatics on Swatch Group movements, including versions with an extended power reserve. The result is a brand with one clear identity: Swiss watches built around materials chosen to last.
