What is the Oris ProPilot?

The Oris ProPilot is a family of automatic pilot's watches from Oris, the Swiss brand founded in Hölstein in 1904. At La Maison Monaco it covers the Big Crown ProPilot Big Date, Big Day Date and Timer GMT, the Okavango Air Rescue Limited Edition, the ProPilot GMT and the ProPilot Altimeter. Oris has made pilot's watches since 1938, the year of the first Big Crown, which carried a Pointer Date. Cases are stainless steel except the carbon fibre Altimeter, water resistance is 100 m and every movement is automatic. We list ProPilot X, the titanium line, as a separate collection.

Which Oris ProPilot size and model should I choose?

Choose the Big Crown ProPilot Big Date for an everyday 41 mm watch, the Big Day Date for a day window at 44 mm, a GMT model for a 24-hour hand, or the ProPilot Altimeter for a 47 mm instrument watch. The Big Date has a 41 mm steel case and an enlarged date window, from $2,950. The Big Day Date starts at $3,300. The Timer GMT is 44 mm at $3,850, the ProPilot GMT 41.5 mm at $4,650, and the carbon fibre Altimeter $9,150. Dials are mostly blue, black and grey, with some green and red.

Big Crown ProPilot models use automatic Oris calibres such as the 751 and 752 in steel cases. ProPilot X uses in-house Oris Calibre 400 and 115 movements and starts at $6,400 CAD at La Maison Monaco.

What are the water resistance and power reserve of the Oris ProPilot?

Every Oris ProPilot we carry is rated to 100 m (10 bar). The Big Crown ProPilot Big Date, Big Day Date and Timer GMT have a 38-hour power reserve, and the ProPilot GMT and ProPilot Altimeter 56 hours. A 100 m rating suits swimming and showering but is not a dive rating. Have the seals checked at each service to keep the rating.
