Questions about MIDO

How much is a Mido Ocean Star in Canada?

The Mido Ocean Star costs between $1,410 and $2,610 CAD at La Maison Monaco. It is a Swiss automatic diver rated to at least 200 m of water resistance. The price depends on the reference, the bracelet or strap, and whether it is the GMT version. Each product page shows the current price, and Flexiti financing is available on eligible models.

Is Mido a good first Swiss automatic watch?

Yes. Every Mido we carry is a Swiss automatic, priced from $1,220 CAD, and many run on the Caliber 80 with about 80 hours of power reserve. A watch like that can sit unworn over a long weekend and still be running on Monday. The Ocean Star, Multifort and Commander are common first automatics.

What is the Mido Caliber 80?

The Caliber 80 is a Swiss automatic movement used by Mido, with about 80 hours of power reserve, so the watch keeps running for over three days when not worn. Some references pair it with a Nivachron balance spring, which resists magnetic fields and temperature changes. It powers many current Mido watches, and the product page names the movement.

Which Mido should I choose: Ocean Star, Multifort or Commander?

Choose by use. The Ocean Star is the diver, rated to at least 200 m. The Multifort is the sturdy everyday automatic. The Commander and the Baroncelli are the dress watches, the Baroncelli being the thinner and more classical of the two. Cases run from under 34 mm to over 44 mm, with most at 40 to 43 mm.

Does Mido have a warranty in Canada?

Yes. Every Mido sold by La Maison Monaco carries the full Mido manufacturer warranty, and the watch matches its official reference. We are an authorized Mido dealer with 15 boutiques in Quebec and Ontario, so questions and after-sales service can be handled in person as well as online.

Is La Maison Monaco an authorized Mido dealer?

Yes. La Maison Monaco is an authorized Mido dealer in Canada, and every Mido is sourced from the brand. Stock status is shown on each page: in stock, or available to order, meaning we order it in from Mido for you. Eligible models can be financed through Flexiti on approved credit.

The Maison

Mido was founded in 1918 in Solothurn, Switzerland, by Georges Schaeren, and its name comes from the Spanish phrase yo mido, meaning I measure. The brand built its identity around durability and water resistance, introducing the Aquadura crown-sealing system in 1934, which keeps moisture out with a natural cork gasket. The Multifort, launched in the 1930s, was marketed as an automatic, antimagnetic, shock-resistant and water-resistant watch at an accessible price, and it set the template Mido still follows: robust automatics built to be worn every day. Mido often draws on architecture for its cases and dials, which gives the collections a recognizable line. As part of the Swatch Group, Mido uses the group's Swiss movement supply, including the Caliber 80 with its roughly 80-hour power reserve, at accessible prices. Swatch Group engineering, an 80-hour automatic and a real heritage of water resistance make Mido a sensible way into Swiss watchmaking at La Maison Monaco.
