Questions about Oris

Is Oris an independent watch brand?

Yes. Oris is one of the few Swiss watchmakers not owned by a luxury group, and it has made only mechanical watches since the early 1980s, with no quartz models. Every Oris we carry is automatic or hand-wound. That independence lets the brand set its own direction, including its in-house Calibre 400 movement with a long power reserve.

How much does an Oris watch cost in Canada?

Oris watches at La Maison Monaco cost from $2,750 to $36,500 CAD. Most of the range sits between about $2,750 and $6,500, with the Aquis from $2,750 and the Divers Sixty-Five from $2,850. Limited editions and complicated models rise well above that. Each product page shows the current CAD price, and Flexiti financing is available on eligible models.

Is the Oris Aquis a good dive watch?

Yes. The Aquis is a full-featured automatic diver with a screw-down crown, a rotating bezel and a stainless-steel case, and nearly all of ours are rated to 300 m. It comes in several case sizes, from compact to over 44 mm. Check the exact water-resistance rating and case diameter on the reference you are considering.

Which Oris should I choose: Aquis, Divers Sixty-Five or Big Crown?

Choose by style. The Aquis is the modern, highly water-resistant diver; the Divers Sixty-Five is the vintage-styled diver that wears slimmer; the Big Crown and ProPilot are the pilot's watches, with pointer date or GMT. Case sizes range from under 38 mm to over 44 mm, and our staff can help you try one on in a boutique.

What is the red rotor on an Oris?

The red rotor is the oscillating weight that winds an Oris automatic movement, finished in the brand's signature red and visible through a display caseback on many models. It is a recognizable Oris marker rather than a performance feature. Whether a given reference has a display back is listed on its product page.

Is La Maison Monaco an authorized Oris dealer?

Yes. La Maison Monaco is an authorized Oris dealer in Canada, with 15 boutiques in Quebec and Ontario. Every Oris is sourced from the brand, matches its official reference and carries the full Oris manufacturer warranty. Stock status is shown on each page: in stock, or available to order, meaning we order it in from Oris for you.

The Maison

Oris was founded in 1904 in Hölstein, Switzerland, by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, who named the company after the Orisbach brook that runs through the valley. It is one of the last independent Swiss watchmakers, owned by its management rather than a luxury group, and since the early 1980s it has made mechanical watches only, with no quartz. Oris built much of its reputation in aviation: its Big Crown design from 1938 introduced the oversized crown and pointer date that pilots could read and set with gloves on, a feature still carried in the collection's name. The brand is also known for its dive watches and for developing its own movements, such as the Calibre 400 with a long power reserve, alongside reliable Swiss automatic movements across the range. Many Oris watches show the brand's signature red rotor through a display caseback. Independence, mechanical-only conviction and dive and pilot heritage make Oris a distinctive choice at La Maison Monaco.
