What is Citizen Eco-Drive?

Eco-Drive is Citizen's light-powered movement. It runs on any light source, sunlight or indoor light, which removes the need to replace the watch battery. Citizen launched the world's first solar-powered analog watch in 1976, and most of the Citizen watches we carry are Eco-Drive.

Which Citizen watch should I choose?

Start with how you will wear it. For everyday wear, the Eco-Drive lines such as Corso, Axiom and Peyten are the largest range and the lowest prices. For diving and sport, choose Promaster, water resistant to 20 bar (200 m). For a watch you wind with your wrist, choose an automatic Tsuyosa or Zenshin. For a slim women's watch, see Citizen L. Each product page shows the case size, so you can check the fit.

Does Citizen make automatic watches?

Yes. The Tsuyosa and Zenshin lines are automatic, in cases from 37 to 42.5 mm, from $650 to $895 at La Maison Monaco.

Are there Citizen watches for women?

Yes. Citizen L is the women's line, with slim stainless steel cases from 20 to 32.4 mm, from $495 to $1,250. Many Eco-Drive watches in other lines are made for women too.

The Maison

Citizen began in 1918 in Tokyo as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. In 1924 it released its first Japan-made pocket watch, and Tokyo's mayor, Shinpei Goto, gave it the name Citizen, in the hope that as many citizens as possible would use and cherish it; in 1930 Citizen Watch Co. was founded. In 1970 Citizen made the world's first titanium wristwatch, and in 1976 the world's first solar-powered analog watch, the start of Eco-Drive, the movement that runs on any light source and removes the need to replace the battery. La Maison Monaco carries Citizen watches from $295 to $1,750.
