438-382-3823The El Primero is Zenith's in-house automatic chronograph movement, introduced in 1969. It beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), fast enough for a chronograph to time to a tenth of a second. It is one of the first automatic chronograph movements, and it still powers Zenith's Chronomaster chronographs.
Zenith watches at La Maison Monaco cost from $10,600 to $268,100 CAD. Stainless steel models run $10,600 to $88,500. The Zenith Pilot starts at $11,500, the Defy Skyline at $13,000, the Chronomaster Original at $14,400 and the Chronomaster Sport at $15,900. Flexiti financing is available on approved credit.
Choose the Chronomaster Sport, from $15,900, if you want a chronograph with a ceramic bezel. Choose the Defy Skyline, from $13,000, if you want a sportier watch with a faceted bezel and an integrated bracelet, also available in 36 mm. Both are rated to 100 m.
Yes. Zenith designs and builds its own movements in Le Locle, Switzerland, including the El Primero chronograph calibre. Its manufacture dates from 1865, when Georges Favre-Jacot brought the watchmaking trades under one roof. Zenith is not a brand that assembles bought-in movements.
Our dedicated Zenith boutique is at Royalmount in Montreal, where a specialist can show you the references. We also ship across Canada. Zenith watches are generally ordered in from the brand, so we confirm availability and the delivery date with you before your visit or order.
Yes. La Maison Monaco is an authorized Zenith dealer in Canada, so each watch comes from the brand with its manufacturer warranty and the reference you chose. Flexiti financing is available on approved credit. Bring the watch to any of our 15 boutiques for service questions.
The Maison
Zenith was founded in 1865 in Le Locle, Switzerland, by Georges Favre-Jacot, who gathered the watchmaking trades under one roof. In 1969 it introduced the El Primero, one of the first automatic chronograph movements and a high-frequency one beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, which lets a chronograph time to a tenth of a second. When quartz threatened mechanical watchmaking in the 1970s, a Zenith employee is said to have hidden the El Primero tooling, and the calibre returned to production in the 1980s. Zenith still builds its movements in Le Locle, and the El Primero powers its Chronomaster chronographs today.
